NON FORMAL EDUCATION PROGRAMME FOR CHILDREN (NFEC)
NFEC emphasized the non-formal education of the children especially the girls and the prevention and rehabilitation of child labour especially engaged in the hazardous occupations. Unfortunately, the state run formal education system fails to meet the needs of many children who live in urban slums and rural villages of Uttar Pradesh. The literacy rates in Uttar Pradesh are among the lowest in the whole country. The organization started to work for child development extensively in 2005, with the organizing of a community counseling camp for the education. Since than it has launched child labour prevention and rehabilitation program, which aims at non formal education and vocational training of the grown up working children, income generation for their families, alternative support recreations and health services, community mobilization through raising awareness regarding the child labour, advocacy at the level of local, state and national level for the rights of the child as defined in the UN Convention as well capacity building of the partner NGO’s.
